About these terms
Belonging Therapy is the trading name of Fayola Edmunds, based in Bristol, UK.
These terms apply when you use belongingtherapy.org, join a waiting list, create an account, or book a session through the platform. By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
We may update these terms as the service develops. The date above shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
What Belonging Therapy is — and is not
Belonging Therapy is a directory and matching service. We help you find an independent, qualified therapist whose experience and values align with what you are looking for.
We do not provide therapy
Therapy is provided by independent practitioners, not by Belonging Therapy. Each practitioner is responsible for their own clinical work, their own professional insurance and their own records. Your therapeutic relationship is with them.
Nothing on this website is medical advice, and the service is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 999. If you need urgent support, contact your GP, NHS 111, or the Samaritans on 116 123.
Who can use the service
- You must be 18 or over to create a client account and book sessions.
- You must be resident in the United Kingdom, as our practitioners are registered to practise here.
- You must give accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your account password private and for activity on your account.
Practitioners on the platform
Practitioners apply to join the directory and are checked before their listing is published. We verify professional body registration, insurance and, where relevant, DBS certification.
What our checks mean: We confirm the paperwork a practitioner has given us is present and current at the point we look at it. We do not supervise their clinical practice and we do not guarantee any particular outcome from therapy.
Practitioner obligations: Practitioners agree to keep their registration, insurance and listing accurate, to work within the ethical framework of their professional body, and to tell us promptly if their registration status changes.
Bookings, fees and payment
Session fees are set by each practitioner and shown on their listing before you book. Payments are taken securely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
There is no charge to search the directory or to join a waiting list. Belonging Therapy charges practitioners a service fee on sessions booked through the platform; this is included in the fee shown to you, not added to it.
Cancellations and refunds
Each practitioner sets their own cancellation window, which is shown on their listing and confirmed when you book. Cancelling inside that window may mean the session is still charged.
If a practitioner cancels a session, you will be offered a new time or a full refund. If something has gone wrong with a booking, contact us and we will look into it.
Acceptable use
We ask everyone to treat this as the care setting it is. You agree not to:
- Use the service for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or threaten anyone
- Impersonate another person, or register on someone else’s behalf without their agreement
- Copy, scrape or republish practitioner listings or any other part of the platform
- Attempt to gain access to accounts, systems or data that are not yours
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where we do, we will tell the account holder and explain how to challenge the decision.
Your information
How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy notices, linked at the foot of this page. They form part of these terms.
Our responsibility to you
We work to keep the platform available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and listings depend on information practitioners give us.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under UK law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Complaints and contact
If something has gone wrong, please tell us at hello@belongingtherapy.org and we will respond as quickly as we can.
A complaint about a practitioner’s clinical practice can also be raised directly with their professional body, which is named on their listing.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
