Who we are

Belonging Therapy is a counselling platform and practitioner development hub, based in Bristol, UK. This notice is for therapists and counsellors who join the directory or access the Belonging Practitioner Hub.

What we collect about you

  • Your name, professional title and contact details
  • Your qualifications, accreditations and professional body membership
  • Your therapeutic approach, areas of specialism, fees and availability
  • Your profile photo, if you choose to share one
  • Records of courses, supervision and reflective spaces you access through the Hub
  • Payment, invoice and commission records (15% on bookings made through the platform)

Setting up your payouts

Before you can be paid, Stripe has to verify who you are — a legal requirement under the UK Money Laundering Regulations 2017. To save you typing them again, we pass Stripe the details you have already given us: your name, your email address and your phone number. Everything else Stripe needs — your date of birth, your home address, your identity document and your bank account — you give to Stripe directly, in a form we cannot read. We never receive or store any of it.

Your clinical records are your own

Belonging Therapy does not store therapy session notes, process notes or clinical records. You are a separate, independent Data Controller for your own clinical work.

Lawful basis

Profile and directory information: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).

Financial and commission records: performance of a contract and legal obligation (Articles 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(c)).

Identity details passed to Stripe to set up your payouts: legal obligation and performance of a contract (Articles 6(1)(c) and 6(1)(b)). Stripe is required to verify you before it can pay you, and we cannot pay you until it has.

Hub records: performance of a contract and legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).

We do not sell practitioner information or share it for marketing purposes.
